Who could build a house like this ?

This is the back side of lath and stucco on metal studs. Water is freely running into the house. This is the day after a pouring rain. There is no vapor barrier, sheathing or any barrier to stop the water.

Why don't ferrocement boats leak ?

Ferro cement boats are different. Ferro cement boats are high strength portland cement mortar on a heavy metal armature. Ferro cement boats are usually a minimum of 5-6 inches thick, and thicker in the curves and shapes. The finish on cement boats is troweled smooth, sealing most of the pores. Water does penetrate ferrocement boats for a ways. and stops when the pores are filled. In other words, the wetter it is, the tighter is is. The standard thickness of cement stucco is about 3/4", and is much thinner in one coat stucco applications.
