Never ever use Plaster weld, link or other
bonding agent on the outside of a building
on painted stucco or block. IT WILL FAIL.

I have a house built in 1963 where the outside walls are covered with stucco (sprayed on, little dimples).  I replaced the windows in the house and there needs to be a lot of patching.  One contractor said it would look better if the whole building was restuccoed.  The old stucco has been painted.  The contractor said it would hold up because glue would be added to the stucco mix.  Is this true?  How long would it be expected to last?

I have seen this so many times where the stucco looked like it was done by experienced people but was popping off in less than 5 years.

This material works for inside plastering because it is water soluble.

When wet plaster is applied, the surface dissolves slightly and mixes with the plaster.

It won't work for outside stucco because stucco absorbs water and the plaster weld dissolves and fails.

To do things right you would want to sandblast or chip off the old paint and apply a new stucco finish with a bonding admixture like flex con
or acryl60.

EVERYTHING WE DID LIKE THIS 10-15 YEARS AGO IS FALLING OFF THE WALL.
