Stucco on a concrete dome

Good day, Sir. I was researching a stucco job I wanted to do when I came upon You. I have a concrete geodesic dome I've built and subsequently painted with a textured acrylic paint from Sherman Williams ( Con Flex Ultracrete). I wish to cover this exterior surface, approx. 3000 SF with a stucco finish. I've written you to ask for your expertise kindly. Is it possible to apply a stucco finish to this surface? I would be most appreciative if you could share your brief thoughts and concerns and or ideas. Thank You

I can tell you how to permanently bond cement stucco to your dome. However, the top, as well as other horizontal surfaces, aren't the most reliable place to put cement stucco. Bear in mind, stucco is porous and absorbs water. You may have streaking and check cracking. Even worse are synthetic finishes. I have seen historic houses where people put on a thin synthetic basecoat, which is made for styrofoam, and a synthetic finish. These finishes don't last and bubble up after a few short years. I have seen this lately on historic mansions where the surface is completely corrupted with this garbage. Not to mention, the synthetic finish is not historically accurate. Even the synthetic basecoat with the reinforcing cloth is failing.

On concrete, even painted concrete, we use our chipping and bonding method.

This is a solid permanent bond. However, I don't know how long it will last. Horizontal surfaces may fail.
