More about Toll Brothers
Mr. Bullard,
I live in Nashville, TN.. Toll was building here until they were ran out of town by the state.
They violated several critical codes and defrauded the buyers.
I am one of those buyers.
I cannot sale my home due to structural issues:
1. The garage is 10" out of square. A hole was cut in the dry wall to check the exterior wall. We found that the OSB wall stapled to the studs, not nailed. The OSB has pull away from the studs with the staples exposed.
1. The garage is 10" out of square. A hole was cut in the dry wall to check the exterior wall. We found that the OSB wall stapled to the studs, not nailed. The OSB has pull away from the studs with the staples exposed.
3. The front foundation is out-of-square. There is a footer with a 12" block. The 8" block was supposed to set on the 12" block, but, the 8" block is only setting on 4" of the 12" block. They must of poured a separate footer for the brick.
4. The block foundation supporting the dining room and garage wall does not support the wall. The block was set wrong, so Toll drill holes in the block, securing angle iron to the blocks which support the wall.
5. The nook area floor has sunk approx 1.0 ". I found that the partial wall between the Kitchen and nook area was set in the wrong location. Instead of setting on a floor joist, it is setting between the floor joist and there is no pillar support.
6. On the inside of my garage, I have leaks under the window sill. After checking, I found out Toll violated another code. The did not apply moisture barrier paper, no flashing, no window flashing, and no weep holes.
7. The bathroom above the wall mentioned in item 5 is moving. The expensive tile Toll installed did not get concrete backer board and is splitting as a result.
8. The crown molding was a poor grade. It was painted white, but now, its turning brown. Something is leaching through the paint.
9. The master bath ceiling paint is peeling off. We have always ran the vent fan in the ceiling when showering. I checked the air flow of the fan and found it wasn't drawing very much air out. I don't know why.
10. The door were not hung correctly, The doors are warped and the locks don't match the latch hole in the cased opening.
11. The mortar is cracking and coming off on the back of the house. There is a structural problem some where. Tolls took the brick off and bolted a 25' angle iron across and set the brick on it. The mortar is cracking again.
12. The front door step is sinking. There is a 3/4" gap to the threshold.
13. The duct work in the attic is sweating so bad, I am getting water stains on the ceiling. The same thing happens to the ducts under the house. I don't know what is going on with that either.
14. Exposed wires in the attic. J-Box covers were never put on. Also, wires were not in J-Boxes.
15. Outside flood lights not secured to the over hang. They are hanging by their wires only.
16. Back corner bedroom has developed a large hump in the floor.
There were several other Toll Homes like mine that have the similar problems.
It is a shame that this company is having so much success at the expense of defrauded home owner. Toll is a large company with many attorney's trained to beat down the dis-satisfied home owners and hide all of their deceit from the public and the stock holders. My home price was $406,000.00, Based on what I saw and heard on the Inter-net, I though I would have a Quality Home. It was all a lie. Every Level of Toll management knew about the fraud and neglect. I contacted Pres. Bob Toll and CEO, Zvi Barzilay. I contacted the regional VP.only to be threatened by a legal suit if I complained about Toll. I do have a suit filed against Toll, but, they are rich and very powerful.
The Brentwood TN. Codes department was a joke also. They let Toll get away with everything. Their excuse was " we don't have enough inspectors". That did not stop them from issuing permits. The City government wants your tax dollars, but, takes no responsibility for there actions.
I invite anyone to come and see my home
